The future is here; Will privacy keep up?

Organisations are increasingly using large volumes of data – including personal information – to power artificial intelligence (AI) tools that drive efficiencies, support decision making and automate customer services. Meanwhile blockchain is touted both as privacy’s saviour and a threat to the right to be forgotten.

Where does privacy really sit amongst these “emerging” – but increasingly commonplace – technologies? Do they help or hinder the protection of individuals’ privacy rights? And how can these technologies be implemented by organisations while still maintaining transparency, security and customer and employee trust?
The iappANZ is excited to present an opportunity to discuss these important questions with speakers from leading NZ tech companies Centrality and Soul Machines.

Join us for a panel discussion led by Frith Tweedie from EY Law on the role of privacy in AI and Blockchain technologies with Shona Grundy of Soul Machines and Jerome Faury of Centrality.

Shona Grundy is the Director of Commercial Operations at Soul Machines, a ground-breaking high tech company of AI researchers, neuroscientists, psychologists, artists and innovative thinkers that creates life-like, emotionally responsive artificial humans with personality and character. Their vision is to humanize artificial intelligence to better humanity, using neural networks that combine biologically inspired models of the human brain and key sensory networks to create a virtual central nervous system.

Jerome Faury is Group GM at Centrality, a global leader in building blockchain-based ecosystems. In 2017, Centrality sold over $100 million of its digital token (CENNZ) in less than 6 mins. One of Centrality’s decentralised Apps is SingleSource, a blockchain identity solution that allows direct verification of NZ passports, citizenships and drivers’ licences and is now an official Identity Confirmation Service intermediary for the Department of Internal Affairs.

After the facilitated discussion, please join like-minded industry professionals to talk privacy, network and enjoy a well-deserved after work drink. This event has been kindly hosted by EY.
