AI Forum Research Report Launch – Wellington

The AI Forum of New Zealand with the Hon Clare Curran will be celebrating the publication of Artificial Intelligence: Shaping a Future New Zealand.

This report is the culmination of a 1-year research project led by the AI Forum with research partners IDC and Sapere. The research has looked into the New Zealand and international AI industry landscapes, investigating AI’s potential impacts on New Zealand’s economy and society. The report identifies key opportunities – across the public, private and education sectors – that New Zealand can start investing in now to actively shape the effects of AI on our collective future. The research identified that AI has the potential to help grow New Zealand’s economy by billions of dollars in the next 25 years, but more organisations need to start seizing the initiative and investing in AI now to remain competitive in the medium term. The report also looks into some of the challenges that AI presents – for jobs, the law and new ethical considerations driven by this. The report concludes with a recommendation for how our country can maximise the potential benefits of AI for all New Zealanders.
