The Artificial Intelligence Forum of New Zealand (AI Forum) is a purpose-driven, not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO) that is funded by members. The association was founded in 2017.
The AI Forum brings together New Zealand’s AI community, including innovators, end users, investors, regulators, researchers, educators, entrepreneurs and interested public.
We’re working together to harness the power of AI to enable a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future Aotearoa.
The Forum advances New Zealand’s AI ecosystem through connections, advocacy, growing talent and collaboration. The AI Forum promotes the economic opportunities raised by AI, supporting great applications of AI and emerging New Zealand AI firms, and also works to ensure that society can adapt to the rapid and far-reaching changes that AI technology will bring.
The Forum holds an evidence based approach, focusing on addressing challenges to realise opportunities.

Kahui Māori Atamai Iahiko | Our Advisory Panel
We are establishing ‘Te Kāhui Māori Atamai Iahiko’ a Māori Advisory Panel in AI. We are committed to our purpose to ensure that we embed Te Ao Māori in our work. We will ensure that the voices of Māori are heard, bringing to life our commitment to help harness the power of AI to enable a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future Aotearoa.
The AI Forum is a member of the NZ Tech Alliance
Coordinated by NZTech, the New Zealand Tech Alliance represents over 1500 organisations across the New Zealand technology landscape who collectively employ almost 10 percent of the workforce.
The Alliance was formed to help connect, promote and advance the entire tech ecosystem. It is a diverse collective of purpose driven not-for-profit, non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Our shared purpose is to help the economy grow and create a prosperous Digital Nation
The AI Forum is a member of the Partnership on AI
The international Partnership on AI (PAI) brings together diverse, global voices to realize the promise and avoid the pitfalls of artificial intelligence.
The Partnership on AI to Benefit People and Society was established to study and formulate best practices on AI technologies, to advance the public’s understanding of AI, and to serve as an open platform for discussion and engagement about AI and its influences on people and society.
PAI is connecting leading technology companies, academic institutes, and civil society organizations from across the world to facilitate the most important conversations on the future of AI.
