Last night we hosted our first Artificial Intelligence Forum of New Zealand (AIFNZ) Connect Event in Auckland. The sold out event showcased local AI talent, provided an excellent opportunity to make connections and learn more about local AI initiatives.
Executive Director Ben Reid gave further details of AIFNZ’s large scale New Zealand AI Impacts research project. The study will provide a definitive benchmark on our current AI capabilities and identify opportunities to leverage technologies in future. As well as a comprehensive stocktake of organisations working with AI in New Zealand, research will examine the national impact on the economy, society, education and Government. Chapman Tripp’s technology lead Bruce McClintock gave an introduction to the legal and regulatory challenges relating to AI today.
FaceMe’s Head of Product Victor Yuen shared their kiwi success story using AI to change the customer service experience. From groundbreaking startup to international innovators we gained insights from their inspiring journey. A key learning from FaceMe’s work on “digital employees” has been understanding the power of emotion and empathy. Victor also discussed the current market, challenges, opportunities for New Zealand and considerations for execution and relevance.
